The College Intern main function is to learn how to provide substance abuse and / or co-occurring services. The intern will provide these services to clients on an individual and or group basis to assigned clients.
Under supervision, provides a wide range of case management services such as; performs assessment interviews, assesses special needs and/or services for clients. Uses ASAM placement criteria, establishes treatment plans with realistic goals, and refers to other treatment providers based on clients’ needs and prepares discharge summarries under the supervision of a qualified supervisor. Maintains confidential client file and other records, and performs other case management duties as needed. Follows agency and program policies and participates in quality improvement activities.
The College Intern must be enrolled in a college internship program with an accredited college or university in the areas of behavioral ssciences or a recognized alcohol and drug training program in NJ.
A written affiliation agreement is required between the college/training program and the agency.
