The admission counselor is expected to provide assessment services to the assigned clients in a face to face interview. The admission counselor must complete all necessary forms using the NJSAMS, the agency's electronic health record and other hard copy forms, etc.


This position is scheduled to be hire on July 2017.


  • Provide face to face interview with substance abuse clients for assessments and admission determination
  • Complete NJSAMS documentation, including DSM diagnosis, LOCI and treatment authorizations.
  • Knowledgeable of computer use and be able to download and upload files in various electronic folders
  • Knowledgeable of ASAM admission criteria and be able to determine treatment placement
  • Able to diagnose  substance abuse disorders using DSM-V and ICD-10.
  • Able to provide financial assessment using the income eligibility criteria using the NJSAMS
  • Capable to develop and write a comprehensive diagnostic summary in a professional language.
  • Able to promptly communicate with referral sources via written communication about client's admission status.
  • Able to obtain clinical authorization for services
  • Write comprehensive and clinically driven LOCIs.


  • Minimum of bachelor degree in a Behavioral Services discipline and
  • Experience using the NJSAMS and
  • 270 education hours in alcohol and drug counseling 
  • CSW, CADC Preferred


  • Master degree in a Behavioral Services discipline and
  • Experience using NJSAMS 
  • LCADC, LPC, LCSW, LAC, LSW, LMFT preferred
